Danger

My grandson is growing up (13 already and is as tall as I am) and I know that he won't be "scared" for not one second with this card -- but I do hope he enjoys it! This was inspired by GinaK's latest StampTV tutorial on making a gatefold with a twist. The twist being that there are two outer components --the skull image attached to one side; danger, attached only to the other side allowing the card to open.

The best fun was creating the inside. The Mummy is attached by a black thread at just the point that will allow him to "spring" from his tomb when the card is opened! There's no danger in having fun!

Leaves of Fall

I am counting my blessing on these leafs while I am away from my stamping studio. The leaves are sizzix die cut, stamped on and cuttlebug embossed and are attached by the stems only so that they can be moved about to read all those uplifting and encouraging words. Word stamps from PSX, Stampendous, etc. Underlying frame stamped with Too Much Fun Leaf background stamp. Simple but fun to receive yes?

Little Boy Blue

The Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge is to produce a creation in the color blue and/or red. It is very plain to see my choice as everything is pretty much blue -- with four different pattern papers stitched together. The blue flowers are dry embossed for dimension and have liquid applique centers. The charming little boy colored with prismas, is peering with a toothless grin from out of a sizzix frame. I didn't want to make this one girly, girly so bugs are added -- ' cause boys like bugs right? Just words

Just words? Stampin' Sisters In Christ by DT member, Candace, presents a scripture: Psalm 119:105 "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." Her challenge is to use only words -- no image in a creation this week. Because the verse I used was to dominate the card, I decided to make a tent card to draw extra focus. The design paper is from a

pad (Two Scoops) I cut into for the first time sent to me by Kelly at KL StampinNscrappin (random prize draw at a House Mouse challenge). Kelly has a new challenge every Saturday and among her DT tutorials is one for a tent card.

Stuff I used: Northern Lights Embossing Powder, Birthstone Kaleidacolor stamp pad, Nestabilities, Cuttlebug embossing folder, MS Border punch, Emaginations punch, ribbon, flowers, heart from stash. Stamps: Embossing Arts and Stampendous. Sometimes it just amazes me how much stuff it takes to make just one card! I feel so lucky! (to have lots of stuff).

Sunrise

I couldn't decide on the background for this -- and my son said that this blue background looked like the coolness of sunrise -- so I liked the idea of the beginning of the day to say "Wild For you!" The color bars were leftovers stitched and bradded atop a cuttlebug embossed panel with the sizzix Giraffe and Sun added with dimensionals. "Wild For You" is a Michael's $ stamp (another souvenir of Nashville). Background created with a Stampendous texture stamp. I am wild for your comments!

P.S. Hoping this will bring a smile to my friend Paula who collects giraffes -- she's just out of surgery and needs encouragement!

Pretty Woman

After creating and posting the Cinema Saturday challenge for Pretty Woman, I couldn't get the Roy Orbison song out of my head. This, then was my inspiration to have another go at it using the same image and materials, but adding a scalloped lace border by Fiskars, and attaching the flowers and vines (Stampendous) with foam dots to make a pretty woman walking down the street....(ah there goes that tune again). The phrase is computer generated, laminated, and framed with a sizzix die cut from copper cardstock to match the first layer. Now, if I could just remember all the words to the song, I wouldn't have to keep repeating.... "Pretty Woman, walking down the street....pretty woman....."

Achieve

Pretty Woman is an all-time movie favorite of mine and this week, this film is the featured challenge in celebration of their 50th challenge at Cinema Saturday -- a new spot I've come to via a Gina K link as she is their special guest designer this week. I have been a long-time admirer of Gina K and have enjoyed watching her grow in the exploration of her talents as she spreads her love and generosity. Following Gina, has lead me to great videos, ideas, and wonderful bloggers. I think Gina K is a "Pretty Woman" - inside and out. The Cinema Saturday challenge: use the movie Pretty Woman and explain what it inspired in your creation using paper piecing. You can see the design team's inspired contributions here. My contribution is "Achieve" -- In the movie, Pretty Woman -- self respect and self worth were to be achieved (not to mention the prince in shining armor.) I haven't seen this movie in years but the lines I always remember with a smile are the ones delivered to the snobby dress shop sales lady: "Remember me? -- Big Mistake." The day before Vivian was treated with distain at the shop. After telling Edward of her treatment, he sent her out the next day with assistance, and after an adventure in shopping and with many packages in tow, she came back into the dress shop and inquired, "Remember me?" -- and said, "Big Mistake." This image by Rubber Stampede, exudes self-confidence and achievement, you can just image this as Vivian with package carriers behind her. Other stuff: glossy black swirls – Sizzix, flowers – Stampendous, cuttlebug panel, crystal gems, foam dots, and copper metallic panels. Thanks for coming to visit!

Today I Celebrate You

I seem to be in pet mode lately and my dog, Mr. Lucky, is indeed Lucky. We are becoming nap buddies and I am just about as lazy as he is. Well, that's not exactly true -- I am exhausted with a bathroom remodel which I hope to see finalized this week.

Here's a quick card I made in honor of all my pet loving friends. A very simple fun card with the brown cardstock layer corner punched and torn open in the center to allow Ziggy's dog, Fuzz, his chase for the prize bone. Not a very good scan of the inside -- there is a packet of bones (craft punch) tied with gold cord and the phrase, "Today I Celebrate You!" Both stamps are from Stampendous. As some of my blogging friends would say, "easy-peasy."
