In the Green

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
While I am "green" thinking, I got out Sizzix dies to create this simple and quick card. The frog's chest is bleached so a little hint of pink could be added, and then he was run through the cuttlebug with the dots embossing folder for a textured skin. The Lily pads and background are also cuttlebug embossed and some of the items are raised with pop dots. But the most fun of all was to make his tongue out of a rubber band -- look out all you flies out there.

Other stuff: watercolor pencils, Pilot Gold marker, Tim Holtz distressed ink, (eyes: super adhesive tape, mystic fire embossing powder).

Welcome

Welcome to my pad! The Penny Black challenge to use swirls was the inspiration for this one. This delightful Penny Black image has been hiding out in my drawer for sometime just needing some inking! The gold leafed flowers in the background are also a Penny Black. The qualifying swirls are from a Cuttlebug embossing folder, Sizzix die cuts, and a swirly fingerprint background. (I wanted to "swirl" some more but my son edited me!) Please visit the Penny Black challenge blog to see the beautiful contributions by the design team. I'm so happy you came by my "pad" and I'd just leap with delight if you leave me a comment.

A Stitch in Time....

Be sure to visit Penny Black's challenge to see what the DT has done for this week's challenge requiring stitching -- faux, by hand, or machine. I love playing with words and this was a perfect opportunity when I couldn't help but think about the old adage "A Stitch in Time Saves Nine." Enqueries seem to indicate that this old English Proverb was first recorded in Thomas Fuller's Gnomologia, Adagies and Proverbs, Wise Sentences and Witty Sayings, Ancient and Modern, Foreign and British, 1732. You can understand why I was unable to include the title on the book that this wise frog is holding. Here Penny Black's frog is reading from Gnomologia.... and you are guided to his thought bubble (Stampendous) by gems as he quotes that very proverb written by my hand. The clock is striking nine and is bound by black cord to match the hand (faux) stitched edges. Other features are: Sizzix for the clock and frame, computer "Old English Proverb" and Cuttlebug embossed background. Thanks for your time.

Make A Big Splash

"Make a Big Splash" -- that is what I inscribed on the inside of this card for my cousin, Anne, who just turned 60 (Aunt Dot's daughter). This delightful frog is from Penny Black with his puddle enhanced with crystal lacquer. The other components are a narrow underlining of corrugated card stock, and another band punched with a frog punch. It would have been fun to put the froggie punch outs on the inside of the card, but I frogot to do that. This brings me to another use for this card -- yup! A belated, "I frogot it was your birthday." All of you being prolific card artists there is probably never a problem with frogetting to send a card. And, those receiving one of your cards surely "jump" for joy. (Thank goodness my son hasn't seen this post as you know how he feels about my corny sayings.) Well, I'll be frogging along until next time.
